10 MAI | Open Lecture by João Gomes Porto: “Mediation in Theory, Mediation in Practice: Regional Organisations, Peacemaking and Conflict Resolution in Africa”

On May 10, João Gomes Porto, visiting professor at Addis Ababa University, University of Pisa (Sant’Anna) and University of Leipzig,  will be at ISCTE-IUL to talk about “Mediation in theory, mediation in practice: Regional organisations, peacemaking and conflict resolution in Africa”. The event will be held at Auditorium B1.04 (ISCTE-IUL, Building II), at 6 pm. Free admission.

About João Gomes Porto

João Gomes Porto is currently Visiting Professor at the Institute for Peace and Security Studies at Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia (where he teaches and supervises on the PhD programme and the Executive Masters MPSA), the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna in Pisa, Italy, and occasionally at the University of Leipzig (Germany), Institute for African Studies. João Gomes Porto was Senior Lecturer and Director of Undergraduate studies at the Department of Peace Studies, University of Bradford, United Kingdom (2005-2011), remaining linked to the Department as honorary research fellow. From 2002 to 2005, Dr Gomes Porto was Head of the African Security Analysis Programme at the Institute for Security Studies (ISS), Pretoria, South Africa, where he managed a multi-disciplinary team of researchers dedicated to the on-going analysis and provision of policy options on conflict and conflict-prone situations in Africa.
