15 MAR | Open Lecture: Transnational Terrorism

On Thursday March 15, the Master in International Studies at ISCTE-IUL will host an open lecture in collaboration with CEI-IUL. The invited speaker, Nuno Lemos Pires (CEI-IUL and Academia Militar), will give a lecture on Transnational Terrorism.

The lecture will take place at the Auditorium J. J. Laginha (Sedas Nunes Building, ISCTE-IUL), at 6 p.m.

About the speaker

Commandant of Cadets and Professor at the Portuguese Military Academy in Lisbon, Portugal. Colonel Lemos Pires holds a PhD in History, Defence and International Relations; a Master degree in Military Science, a postgraduate in Military History; BA in Human Resources Management and a War College Diploma. He served in several units including: Platoon and Company commander in Infantry School; Military History and Strategy Professor at the PRT War College; as Intel Officer in NATO Rapid Deployable Corps – Spain; as MA to the Commander at Joint Command Lisbon; as Mechanize Battalion Commander in the PRT Mechanized Brigade; as Training Director at the Combined Arms School. During his assignments he has participated in missions in Mozambique, Angola, Pakistan, Ethiopia, and Afghanistan.

About the seminar

The open lecture takes place within the scope of the Conflicts, Peacebuilding and International Regulation Seminar of the Master in International Studies, whose main objective is to debate violent conflicts in the contemporary world, pacification processes, and international regulation mechanisms.
